Support FAQ

For legal questions, please visit our Legal FAQ

Credit Card / Billing

Q: How can I ask LawDepot about a charge on my credit card?

A: We can look up orders using either:
  1. The email address entered at time of purchase
  2. Order number (starts with LWS)
  3. Credit card charge date and first / last 4 digits of a card number
Open a Support Ticket and we will gladly assist you.

Do not send us your entire card number. Do not send us the expiry date.

Q: Why am I being asked for credit card information for the Free Trial?

A: To avoid interrupting access, you will be charged automatically after the free trial is over. If you cancel before the trial is over, you will not be charged.

Subscriptions

Q: How do I change or cancel my subscription?

A: To change your subscription options:
  1. Sign into your LawDepot account
  2. Click the "My Account" link
  3. Click the "Subscription" tab.
  4. Select the option you want.

Q: What if I don't know which email address to sign in with?

A: If you have tried signing in or you do not believe you have an account, please create a support ticket so that we can resolve the issue.

Purchasing

Q: How much does a contract or service cost?

A: On a contract's Questions Page, scroll to the bottom and click on "View Results". Move the mouse over one of the purchasing options on the left to get a description and a price.

Q: How do I purchase a document?

A: From the Questions Page of a contract, click on "View Results" to see the Preview Page. You can find pricing information under the "Buy Licenses" menu.

Q: What is the difference between the different license types (Basic, Platinum, etc.)?

A: A Basic License entitles you to a single use of a particular automated contract; you have two weeks to revise your document.

A Platinum License entitles you to unlimited use of one automated contract for an entire year. A Site Subscription gives you unlimited access to this comprehensive list of documents.

Q: What is a Peace of Mind Review?

A: Our experienced professionals will review your answers and choices for completeness, spelling, internal consistency and grammar. This review only covers information you type into the question page, not any changes you make using the "Edit Words" feature. We will forward your reviewed document in html format within 2 business days after receipt of payment.

Q: I don't like giving my credit card over the Internet. Is there another way to purchase (bank draft, money order, etc.)?

A: A secure order form is actually safer than using the telephone. Phone conversations are not encrypted; anyone could listen in and write down your credit card number as you say it. On a secure order form such as ours, the information travelling between your computer and our server is encrypted, meaning that the information is garbled and unusable to thieves.

Q: I need to change my answers. Do I need to purchase another license? / Why does the site tell me to purchase again?

A: No. As long as your license hasn't expired, sign in, then use the My Account page to return to your document.

Saving and Loading of Answers

Q: How do I save my work?

A: When you are signed in, the last answers you typed into a document will always be there.

If you want to save a set of answers to your computer, click "View Results" from the Question Page, then use the "Save Answers" option under "Save to LawDepot". You can also save the final document using the "Save Results as ..." options.

Q: How do I load answers?

A: Make sure you are signed in. From the Preview Page of most documents, you'll find the "My Documents" link in the menus on the left. From there, double-click on the set of answers you want to load.

Q: My answers are blank. Can I get them back?

A: On the left side of the Questions Page or Preview Page, you will see a "My Documents" link. Click on it to bring up a list of answers. Look for "Purchase Answers" with a date that corresponds to when you purchased, and double click to load the answers saved at the time of purchase.

Printing

Q: How can I make sure the document prints out in a legally acceptable way?

A: You must make sure that the signature appears all on one page with some part of the document showing at the top by changing the size of the margins in your browser's Print Setup and doing a Print Preview. The signature section includes the date the agreement is signed.

Q: How do I get rid of the name of your website on the printout?

A: These are not included by our software. Web browsers add this information by default in the header and footer. To remove the header and footer, click on the "File" menu, then "Page Setup" and clear the "Header" and "Footer" sections.

For longer documents, you may want to print with page numbers on each page. Select "Page # of #" from the drop-down box in the page setup.

Q: I have a document that should only print on one page, but it takes up two. How can I make sure a short document only prints on one page?

A: Ensure that the margins are set to a small value in the Page Setup of your web browser. Some documents deliberately print on multiple pages.

Q: Some text is clipped from the right hand side. How do I fix this?

A: This is because the margin sizes your browser is using are too large. Try decreasing the size of the left and right margins (0.5" per side should do). In Internet Explorer, the margin sizes can be changed by going to the "Page Setup" option in the "File" menu.

Q: There are spaces between words at random spots at the beginning of some lines. How do I fix it?

A: Going to your printer manufacturer's web site to download and install the latest printer driver fixes the problem.

Q: I can't print because I have problems with my printer / my computer locks up / etc. Can you send me a copy?

A: Try signing in from another computer. If you still have trouble, contact us.

Q: My computer crashes or locks up when I try to print. How I fix this?

A: Usually, rebooting (restarting) your computer will fix this.

Q: I don't get a printout of what I see on the screen. What can I do?

A: From your browser's file menu, select "Print Preview". If you are able to see the document in print preview, but physically printing still does not work, you are probably experiencing trouble with your printer. You may want to consult your printer manufacturer's documentation or help.

Coupons

Q: Can coupons be combined?

A: No. Coupons cannot be combined on a single purchase of the same item. However, you can use any additional coupons to purchase other eligible documents from LawDepot.ca.

Q: Are there restrictions as to which documents I can purchase with my coupon?

A: Yes. Coupon discounts apply specifically to the products or services identified on each individual coupon.

Q: Are there exemptions on coupon codes?

A: The following products are exempt from coupon discounts (unless the coupon explicitly states otherwise): Complete site subscriptions; bundled packages; physical products such as corporate seals, share certificates and minute books; taxes; and third-party or government fees and surcharges (application fees, registration fees, filing fees, corporate name search fees, etc).

Q: Do coupon codes expire?

A: Some coupons do expire, or are only valid during certain dates. Each coupon will identify if it has an exact expiry date, or expire after a certain period of time (ie. 30 days after receiving it). Please review the terms and conditions for the coupon code, if you are unsure if it is valid.

Q: What if the website doesn't accept my coupon code?

A: Ensure you are entering the code exactly as it was given to you. Do not spell out numbers (ie. entering "six" instead of the number "6"), and do not add or subtract any spaces.

It may also be possible that your coupon has expired, or is not yet valid. Please review the terms and conditions for the coupon. (For instance, your coupon may only be valid on certain date(s) such as New Year's Day, etc.)

Q: Step-by-step guide to using your coupon code

A: If you have received a coupon code, please follow the following steps to redeem your code, and receive your discounted product(s):

On the webpage where you enter your payment information you will see a place to enter your coupon code. The following steps will assist you in locating that page.
  1. Locate the form which the coupon is valid for, on LawDepot.ca's website. (If you have trouble locating the form, go to the search field at the top right of the LawDepot.ca website, and type in the name of the form - then, press the "Search" button). Alternatively, a list of links to all LawDepot documents can be found here. Be sure to select the document for your specific location (country, state or province) to ensure you are purchasing the correct version for your jurisdiction.
  2. Fill out the contract form and answer any relevant questions you would like to fill out at this time. If you would prefer to fill out the form later, just press the "View Results" button to get to the preview page. (Note: there may be mandatory fields that you have to fill out in order to preview the document. The reason for this is that the website needs to know which version of document you are purchasing).
  3. On the "Preview" page, you can review your document. Once you are done reviewing your document, press "Purchase License" button to proceed to the order form.
  4. On the order form you will be presented with a list of related contracts and packages you can purchase. Make sure you select the one that the coupon code is valid for, and then press the button labelled "Continue to Secure Payment Page".
  5. Follow the instructions on the Secure Order Form to enter your contact details and payment information. (If you already have a LawDepot account, be sure to login to retrieve your contact details automatically).
  6. Underneath the credit card information there is a place to enter your coupon code. Enter the exact code here (including any numbers or capitalization - do not spell out the numbers).
  7. Press the "Apply Coupon" button.
  8. You will then see a message indicating whether the coupon was successfully applied to your order, and your payment total at the top of the page will be adjusted accordingly.
  9. After your discount has been applied, submit your order by clicking the "Send Order Using Our Secure Server" button.
  10. Enjoy using your contract.
Thank you very much for being a valued customer of LawDepot.ca
